How do I get started?
There are two options. Book a free 10-minute information call to have your questions about the process, the law and the costs answered. Or download the free patient guide, which explains each step.
Is medical cannabis legal in Switzerland, and can any doctor prescribe it?
Yes. Since 1 August 2022 any licensed Swiss physician may prescribe it under the narcotics prescribing rules, and no special federal exemption is required. Dispensing takes place through licensed Swiss pharmacies under Swissmedic oversight.
What languages do you support?
German, English, Italian and Russian. For French-speaking patients, appointments are held in English.

How the process works

What happens in the consultation?
A licensed Swiss physician reviews your medical history and your current medication, answers your questions, and documents the assessment. Where medically indicated, the physician defines the further course of treatment in writing.
What is the difference between the free call and the consultation?
The free call is an information conversation about the process, the law and the costs. It is not medical advice and not a medical appointment. The consultation is a clinical appointment with a physician.
What happens after the consultation?
You receive written documentation of the appointment. Any further steps are decided by the physician. Dispensing, where applicable, takes place through a licensed Swiss pharmacy of your choice.
Do you serve patients across Switzerland?
Yes. Consultations take place online and are therefore available anywhere in Switzerland.

Consultation and follow-up

How does the physician decide on a treatment?
Individually, based on your medical history, your current medication and a risk-benefit assessment. There is no checklist and no entitlement to a particular treatment.
Are there situations in which this treatment is not suitable?
Yes. There are medical reasons that can speak against this treatment, among them certain cardiovascular and psychiatric conditions, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and interactions with other medication. The physician discusses this with you individually.
How is my treatment followed up?
Through documented treatment and scheduled online follow-up appointments with the same physician.

Pharmacy and dispensing

How does dispensing work?
Exclusively through licensed Swiss pharmacies. You are free to choose the pharmacy.
What does the practice not do?
We are a medical practice, not a pharmacy. We do not stock, sell or ship any medication. Prices and availability are set by the pharmacy.
What is the difference between medical treatment and the cannabis pilot projects?
The pilot projects under the Narcotics Act are non-medical, time-limited research projects on regulated supply for adult recreational use. A medical treatment is physician-led and follows the narcotics prescribing rules. The two are separate.

Pricing and insurance

What does it cost?
Initial consultation CHF 149. Follow-up consultation CHF 149. Annual plan CHF 499, payable in 2 instalments of CHF 249.50. Pharmacy costs are billed separately by the pharmacy.
What is included in the fee?
The appointment with the physician and the written documentation of that appointment. Medication is not included.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
Yes. If the physician concludes in the consultation that treatment is not medically indicated, you get the CHF 149 for the consultation back in full.
Can I take my medication on a trip within the Schengen area?
Where medically indicated, the physician can issue a Schengen certificate (Art. 75 of the Schengen Implementing Convention), authenticated by the pharmacy. It covers up to 30 days of medication and costs CHF 50 per destination country. Please tell us your travel date at least two weeks before departure. Whether import is permitted is decided by the authorities of the destination country.
Is anything covered by insurance?
Coverage is decided case by case by your insurer. We provide the documentation needed for a cost-approval request. We cannot promise an outcome.

Safety and legal framework

Who will I speak to?
Your consultations are held by Oxana Smagulova, a physician licensed in Switzerland.
Can I drive or work after taking medication?
Whoever is not fit to drive may not drive, with or without a prescription (Art. 31 SVG). With a medical prescription, a THC finding in the blood alone no longer counts as proof of unfitness (Art. 2 para. 2ter VRV), but actual impairment still does. The physician discusses with you what this means for driving and for safety-critical work.
How is my data handled?
Under Swiss data protection law and Swiss medical confidentiality.
